Directions: Studio is between PEARL & SPRUCE, parking is behind the Boulder Mountain FUTON store (which is on Pearl Street). If you're going West on Pearl and pass 21st street, you've gone too far. The Futon store is on the right hand side or North side of Pearl (going West). Studio parking and building is also next to Spruce Swimming Pool. We are a "hula halau" (hula school) and teach not only dance of the Hawaiian people but the entire culture. This includes language, chants, songs, music, the arts associated with hula: lei making, learning to play instruments and sharing tales of the legends of old. What to expect / What you'll need to bring to class:

Class begins with hula basics - repeatitive dance steps - approx 15mins
-
Both Kahiko (ancient dance) and Auana (modern dance) are taught
-
Keiki are taught Hawaiian language basics and will learn to oli (chant) and sing in Hawaiian

Students need to wear a practice Paś skirt to class with comfortable clothing under. See instructor for more information

Students should bring a hula notebook/binder to keep all of their mele (songs) and documented dance steps

Hula CD containing all of the mele used in class can be purchased for $7

Students are encouraged to dance with passion and aloha. Performances are scheduled throughout the year (locally) and are done on a "at will" basis

Costumes are individually made with the help of all the makua (parents).

Students address adults in the traditional Hawaiian way - as Uncle & Auntie
